Start Saving Money On Your Haircare Routine Now
· (2 MIN READ)

In a time where we’re wondering “why is everything so expensive” and budgeting is really top of mind, here are 2 simple ways you can start saving on your haircare routine ASAP (especially if you pay utilities or a homeowner):
1) Condition and detangle your hair BEFORE you step in the shower.
This concept might be a little foreign to you if you’re used to shampooing first THEN conditioning, however if you have type 4 hair most likely you may be doing this already. By wetting your hair first (simply using water in a mist bottle), then adding your favourite moisturizing conditioner as a “pre-poo”, you can detangle before you even have to step in the shower. With thicker and tighter hair types it takes a lot longer to detangle as-is so a lot of time during your wash day could be spent with the running water for more time than you realize. When you’re on a budget for paying utilities you could save a good chunk of money by swapping your conditioning/detangling step with your shampoo step.
2) Get Locs
As a loc girly myself I’m always trying to convince other black women to get locs 😝. One thing that definitely saves time and money is by skipping the conditioner/detangling step altogether! Wash days are SO much quicker because having locs cuts down the time considerably - all I have to do is shampoo & rinse (literally “wash and go”). You’ll also save money on all the gels and creams you would have to buy to style your hair otherwise.
There you have it! Hope you start saving money monthly and maybe a great time to join the “no buy” challenge that is going viral on social media (except buying essentials like shampoo & conditioner of course 😉). A great way to save money on your haircare routine overall is to find affordable quality products like Kerl Beauty (vs other expensive brands) - small business owned & Canadian made.
Until next time,
